I. THE ROLE OF ACADEMIA IN BUILDING A CAPACITY FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY
Dr. Kivet Desai highlighted that the Renewable Energy sectors in Kenya should reach 25% market penetration by 2020 while providing sustainability and affordability in renewable energy solutions. He added solutions in which this could be achieved as follows:
• See renewable energy innovations in education centers.
• Ensuring that technical people are trained to identify quality accurately.
• Have a multi-disciplinary approach due to the pervasiveness of the renewable energy sector. Example is involving farmers in the talks on renewable energy given that the agricultural sector could benefit from renewable energy solutions.
• Find ways of creating pathways for young people to participate in the renewable energy sector while also ensuring that the required competencies are imparted in them.
In addition to the above, he highlighted his views on what’s next in the renewable energy sectors as follows:
• KEREA meetings should be held regularly to work towards  co-creating  the next level of transformation.
• Each renewable energy company should commit to partnerships to address competencies, ensure quality and create structures for employment for the youth. In addition to this, it is critical for member companies’ need to get involved in guiding the young generation and teaching them more on renewable energy.
He further pointed out that companies should follow up on projects such as the World Bank projects and also, UNESCO is creating a center of excellence specializing in renewable energy in Kenya. He then concluded by saying that KEREA and its members need to champion technical and vocational training for renewable energy in universities and for anyone interested.

II. THE FUTURE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN KENYA AND THE GOVERNMENT TO STRENGTHEN RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTORS.

Dan Marongo, Director of Ministry of Energy in charge of Bio-oil gave a talk on this topic. He said that Renewable energy has become an important sector in Kenya and the provision of renewable energy solutions will play a major role in the realization of the Government’s Big Four Agenda. He further added that the ministry is keen to provide a conducive environment with legislative policies that are favorable to the renewable energy sector with respect to the 2010 constitution which provides Kenyans with a right to clean and green environment. The ministry is working towards bringing in affordable energy for all Kenyans by 2022.

DREAM EP Global Energy is keen on powering up education through its renewable energy solutions and also provide clean, green energy for you because it is your right as a Kenya to live in a clean, green environment.
